Our team is searching for a skilled Material Handler.
Applicants should have previous experience working with structural steel averaging 20-to-60-foot lengths varying in weighs possibly exceeding 10 tons.
We prefer to hire someone who has undergone formal material handling training but may hire the right candidate without this qualification.
Primary Duties:
Receiving - This includes verifying material against receiver.
Identifying and documenting damaged material.
Documenting heat # and rack location of material received.
Transfer of information to Purchasing and Fabrication management.
Also receive hardware and maintain small hardware organization.
Production material handling - This is second in priority of duties but is most of the time spent in this position.
Keep production moving forward by assisting in staging for the cutting stations and moving material from cutting station to appropriate staging rack, moving material into and out of primer departments, assisting fabrication teams with moving raw material in and assemblies out of the production bays.
Delivery assistance - Stage materials for delivery in an organized and methodical manner so that loading of assemblies onto trailers is expedited.
Load materials on trailers or assist with loading as required.
Yard organization and maintenance - This includes making sure that material is on the rack that is designated in the management software.
Perform daily forklift inspections.
Also assisting Purchasing with inquiries of physical inventory vs.
material in the management software.
Other Duties:
Must be able to lift material up to 51 lbs.
with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to operate a forklift.
Promote climate of cooperation, leading by example mentoring others in safety, quality, environmental, lean and high-performance work team philosophies Work with all facility employees on improving manufacturing processes, fabrication and implement necessary fixtures and tooling for manufacturing improvements Verify features and markings of finished parts.
Material transport including the use of but not limited to, radio-controlled cranes, forklifts and tuggers Skills Required:
Organization; Self Motivated; Detail Oriented; Critical thinking; Time Management; Multi-tasking; monitoring; Team-Oriented; Lean Manufacturing Requirements for consideration:
High school diploma or equivalent 3
years forklift experience; 1 year working with odd lengths and heavy loads.
Formal training in material handling is preferred Physical ability to frequently standing and sitting for the duration of your shift.
Ability to work well in both team settings and with minimal supervision Computer literate, able to work with Microsoft office tools, and willingness to learn ERP software.
